Özet (EN)

Given the importance of understanding and interpreting graphics, it is expected that the graphic literacy levels of mathematics teachers and teacher candidates whose visual and mathematical intelligence areas are high will also be high. Therefore, this study aims to determine the graphic literacy levels of teacher candidates and their intelligence areas and to determine whether there is a relationship between them and their demographic characteristics. Dec. Descriptive screening method was used in this research for the purpose of the research. The working group of this research is 1, 2, 3 and 4 who are continuing their education at the Mathematics Teaching department of Kastamonu University in the 2023-2024 academic year. a total of 161 teacher candidates make up the classroom. The data collection tools of the study are the graphical literacy test created by the researcher and the multiple intelligence scale (Babacan, 2022). A pilot study was conducted to test the reliability of the graphical literacy test created by the researcher, and the questions that reduced the reliability were removed from the test and the graphical literacy test was finalized. The data obtained from the graphic literacy and multiple intelligence scale were analyzed with the SPSS 26 program. As a result of the obtained analyses, it was concluded that the teacher candidates were more successful at the graph reading level compared to the inter-data reading level and the Decrement reading level. It has been found that there is a positive relationship between the graphic reading level of mathematics teacher candidates and verbal intelligence areas. Dec. It has been found that female mathematics teacher candidates are more successful in all levels of graphic literacy than male teacher candidates. In addition, it was concluded that 1st grade mathematics teacher candidates were more successful in graphic literacy levels than 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade mathematics teacher candidates. It has been found that the field of internal intelligence comes to the fore in the largest number of mathematics teacher candidates, and there are no teacher candidates who have logical and visual intelligence at the same time among teacher candidates with more than one intelligence field from teacher candidates.
