Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to develop a valid and reliable scale to evaluate the knowledge and thoughts of mathematics teachers about concept cartoons used in mathematics lessons. survey method was used in the study. The participants of the study consisted of a total of 596 people, including 420 mathematics teachers and 100 primary school mathematics teacher candidates. In the present study, based on the general characteristics of concept cartoons (CC), 5-point Likert-type 34-item scale was created, and its validity-reliability was ensured. This scale was evaluated by mathematics teachers. With the data set consisting of the total scores of the answers, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were performed, respectively, and the scale was finalized. As a result, a valid-reliable Concept Cartoons Evaluation Scale (CASS) consisting of 23 items in 5-point Likert type consisting of "Mathematical Competence", "High Level Skills", "Conceptual Understanding", "Shape and Design", "Advanced Thinking Skills" sub-factors was obtained. This CASS can be used to evaluate the knowledge and thoughts of mathematics teachers and/or candidates about CC. However, CASS can contribute to revealing the basic features of CC.
