Özet (EN)
The human mind, which can explain all natural phenomena in the universe through causal processes, has difficulty in explaining itself and its contents using the same causal processes. One of the most debated issues of the last century has been the question of how such material and natural causal processes can create an intangible mind and whether this can be repeated in non-organic mechanisms. The fact that the human mind cannot be explained by matter supports the idea that there must be a creator who creates its purpose, bestowing its contents and abilities. Atheist thinkers continue to put forward various theories to eliminate this traditional logical conclusion and to make it possible to explain the desired material account by evolution. This study focuses on the theory of consciousness of Daniel Dennett, who made a great effort for a long time on this topic and who is one of the most important mind philosophers of our time. Secondly, it concentrates on the views of Daniel Dennett on religion. The study analyses his basic claims of consciousness and its contents, his arguments on scientific claims, and ultimately his views on the God and religion as an atheist materialİstanbul This thesis, which also deals with critical approaches to Dennett's theory, aims to see whether a materialist theory of consciousness in Dennett's case can necessarily lead to an atheist conclusion or not.
