The Quranic sciences in the exegesis of al-Nukat va'l-Uyun by Mawardi

The Qur'an has been a text on which a number of studies have been carried in order to reach a better understanding since the very beginning of its revelation. The Qur'anic sciences are disciplinary works that aim to help the understanding of the Qur'an. Mawardi is a commentator of the Qur'an who expounded the Qur'an entirely in a comprehensive and explicit way. In this study, views of Mawardi and his methods in the Qur'anic sciences are examined and detailed. The main concerns of the study are to define that to what extend did Mawardi apply the Qur'anic sciences and to analyse and reveal his thought on the subject. In this regard, this has been firstly a work on the Qur'anic sciences. During the course of the study, the work of Mawardi has been studied entirely in detail. By doing this, the methods of the Qur'anic sciences applied by Mawardi in his work have been identified. After the obtained collection of data is grouped into four main titles, these groups are examined in four chapters. This study opens with an introduction and a methodological analysis of the work, and ends with the parts of conclusion and bibliography. Keywords: Mawardi, Quran, Quranic Sciences, Commentary, Verse.
