Abstract (EN)

The aim of this master's thesis is to evaluate the time management skills of teachers working in private schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education operating in Istanbul and to reveal the relationship between these skills and various demographic variables. Time management, which has assumed an important role in the efficiency of today's educational process, is a critical factor that affects not only the individual performance of teachers but also the institutional success of the institution where they work. When we look at the studies in the literature, it is seen that teachers with effective time management skills are more successful in classroom practices. This situation reveals that they experience professional burnout at a lower level. The scope of this study includes 400 teachers working in private schools in the sample of Istanbul province. In this study, which is based on quantitative research method, 'Time Management Scale in Teaching Process' developed by Ramazan Yirci and Ahmet Yavuz was used. The data obtained after the research were analysed by using different analysis methods with SPSS software. According to the results of the analyses, most of the teachers have positive attitudes towards time management. Especially in areas such as 'starting the lesson on time', 'greeting the class' and 'making connections between subjects', high participation was observed. Again, the need for improvement was identified in areas such as 'making a daily plan' and 'taking short notes'. The fact that the time management scores of the teachers working in the regions far away from the city centre of Istanbul are higher and the teachers giving private lessons have lower scores are the factors that draw attention in this study. As a result, this study revealed that teachers' time management skills need to be improved in terms of both individual development and institutional efficiency. In this context, time management training should be included in in-service programmes. In addition, strengthening administrative support mechanisms is recommended within the framework of the study and in line with the findings obtained.
