Özet (EN)
This research aims to shed light on the career situation of women lawyers of Sakarya Bar Association. This study examines how 28 female lawyers, registered to the Sakarya Bar Association, evaluate their status as a woman in the legal profession, their individual career goals, the aspects they find advantageous or disadvantageous in achieving these goals, the career problems they face while performing their professions, and their expectations from the working environment in achieving their career goals. In particular, the present study seeks to demonstrate the relationship between being married, single or having children and women's views on their legal careers. Using the semi-structured interview technique, conducted with 28 female lawyers from the Sakarya Bar Association, the study focuses on the relationship between the career status of female lawyers and their being married, single, with or without children. According to the results of the study, the majority of the participants think that the profession is suitable for women and that the suitability of any profession should be evaluated by considering some other factors rather than being a woman or man. As a career goal, the participants aim to perform the profession in the best way. There are serious differences in career goals according to the fact that female lawyers are single and married. While many of the single female lawyers only aim to perform their jobs properly, some do not have a clear career goal. On the other hand, married female lawyers stated that they aim to specialize by participating in training and seminars related to their profession as well as aiming to perform their profession properly and also they want to do master's degree in their fields. Most of the participants stated that having a child has a negative effect on their professional life. In addition, the study provides information on the positive and negative effects of having children while practicing law.
