Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to understand the hate speech against Armenian in media with concepts of social psychology. İn this context hate speech was handled as a discriminatory practice which is associated with the sistematical definition of in group and out group within intergroup relations. Within our research45 news were choosen from the website of Hrant Dink Foundation who has been watching hate speech in media regularly and reporting their data every four months. News were examined by the most proper method that enables to analyse discriminatory and racist discourse both of micro and macro level in media. Additionally critical discourse analysis, which enableus to examine the ideologies and the power relations involved in discourse, was used in this research. Consequently hate speech against Armenianconstruct the hierarchy between in and out group in terms of "Us versus Them" discourse in three different ways; "Armenian as a threat against Turks", "Armenian supporters (Ermeniciler) as a threat against Turkey", "Armenian as a threat against community peace". On micro level hate speech has been adopted three different kinds of discourse strategies according to its background ideologies; "Us and Them discourse as a practice of nationalism", " Turkey and Armenian Supporters (Ermeniciler) as a construction of nationalism and blind patriotism" and "Behavioral asymmetry as a practice of symbolic racism"
