The legal quality of the treaties concerning Mahr

In this thesis, the legal quality of the treaties concerning "mahr" in Turkish law is examined. In the first part, the regulation of the institution of mahr is discussed in the concept of the Islamic law. In this context, the purpose, subject, amount, types, finalization, change ando annihilation of the mahr were examined. In addition, institutions similar to mahr are taken into consideration. In the second part, the legal quality of the mahr in Islamic law and the settlement of the treaties concerning the mahr in the courts of England and Germany are emphasized. In the last section, the concept of the treaties regarding mahr in Turkish law is discussed within the scope of the views in the doctrine. In this section, examination is carried out separately in terms of the institutions of family law and law of obligations. As a result, what the legal quality of the agreements regarding mahr in Turkish Law is in our opinion. Key Words: Legal quality, mahr, mahr agreements
