Mektebli child journal (index, selected passage and investigation)

Journal of ?Mektebli? which was published 39 times in a year in the date of between May 29, 1913 and April 23, 1914 was evaluated. In this study, index of Mektebli consisting of lots of kinds of writings like papers, stories, essays, conversations, poems, memories, diaries and monologs written for children was prepared especially to be benefited and used by child researchers easily and efficiently. It consists of three main sections and the first section contains this index. After this index papered by subject names and authors, the second section consists of selected passages. In this section, with the thought of contribution to child education and child literature studies, we added some selected sample passages taken from Journal of Mektebli by translating them to the recent letters. Because translating all passages in the journal is very difficult and needs a lot of time, we have just translated one third of the selected sample texts in today Turkish. In the last section, from Mektebli, after translating the different passages which were published for reading education and to gain reading habit, the viewpoint of education and contents of the texts were investigated. Therefore by studying the historical background of inclination to the children, the importance of the journal of ?Mektebli? has been emerged in the history of Turkish Language and reading education.
