Genome wide analysis and characterization of sabath gene family in phaseolus vulgaris genotypes subject to melatonin under drought and salinity stresses

Common bean is a legume plant used directly in human nutrition today. Since plants are sessile organisms, they have to struggle with a number of difficulties in their environment. These kinds of situations that the plants face are called stress. Salt and drought stresses are the two most important problems in plant life among these stress conditions. Considering the global climate change, decreases in plant yield due to these two stress factors are commonly observed. The aim of this study was to determine and characterize the genome-wide analysis and gene expression levels of the members of the SABATH gene family of drought and salt stress in common bean genotypes and melatonin applied as a protector against these stresses. Using various in silico methods, 18 SABATH gene families were identified in the common bean genome. The molecular weights of proteins involved in this family ranged from 30.12 kDa to 42.73 kDa and the predicted proteins varied from 268 to 387 amino acids. The lowest and the highest of the estimated number of exons for the Pvul-SABATH genes were 3 and 4, respectively. The result of phylogenetic analysis showed that Pvul-SABATH were clustered into 3 main groups. Expression levels of Pvul-SABATH genes were found to be increased in leaf tissues and these genes had function in a variety of physiological processes during plant response to abiotic stresses. In the common bean, phylogenetic relationships, cis-acting elements, and chromosomal locations of SABATH genes was identified using in silico analysis. The results of this study may help breeding of common bean under salt and drought stress conditions.
