The relationship between self-compassion and traumatic growth in female patients diagnosed with breast cancer

The aim of the research is to investigate the relationship between self-compassion, Dec-traumatic growth and body perception in female patients diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition, it was aimed to compare the self-compassion, post-traumatic growth and body perception of women diagnosed with breast cancer and women who were not diagnosed with breast cancer with female patients diagnosed with breast cancer October It is also aimed to examine whether the level of self-compassion of female patients diagnosed with breast cancer differs depending on the time of diagnosis, the adequacy of information about the disease, and family support. The sample of the study consists of 77 female patients with breast cancer diagnosed December the age range of 18-65 and living in Mersin province, and a total of 154 people, including 77 healthy women who have not been diagnosed with breast cancer as a control group. In the study, Post-Traumatic Growth Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, Body Perception Scale and Personal Information Form were used to collect socio-demographic data of the individuals participating in the study. In this study, SPSS 22.0 program was used and analyses were performed through this program. As a result of the research, it was found that the levels of self-compassion of women diagnosed with breast cancer and healthy women who have not been diagnosed with breast cancer do not differ significantly. It was found that the level of change in the relationships of women diagnosed with breast cancer with others was significantly higher than that of their undiagnosed participants. It has been found that the level of body perception of women diagnosed with breast cancer is significantly higher than that of women who have not been diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been found that the level of self-compassion of women diagnosed with breast cancer does not differ significantly compared to when the cancer diagnosis was first made, but differs significantly depending on the availability of family support and adequate information about the disease. It has been found that the level of self-compassion of women diagnosed with breast cancer positively predicts changes in self-perception, changes in relationships with others, changes in the philosophy of life, and body perception.
