Menopause is a period in which fertility of a woman ends. The reciprocally removal of ovaries is called as surgical menopause. On the other hand, natural menopause is the period seen in women averagely at the age of 45-55. Ovary period in women does not occur as a result of becoming unfunctional by getting older and so fertility ends. Initiating with menopause, lots of hormone levels in women start decreasing. This situation effects the quality of sleep negatively at the same time resulting in vasomotor symptoms. In current study, it was aimed that revealing sleep disorders of menopausal women first subjectively then objectively and understanding effect on sleep quality more clearly and obtained data we found to use for further studies. This study included patients giving consent form and diagnosed with menopause in outpatient polyclinics of gynecology and obstetrics. After saving all participants' sociodemographic attributes and data related to menopausal period, subjective sleep quality evaluation was done by conducting Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index questionnaire by using face to face method. After grading PSQI forms, the patients whose sleep quality showed signs of impair were called to clinics and polysomnography which is an noninvasive technic was conducted in our sleep labs so that sleep quality disorders was examined objectively. In terms of continuous variables on comparison of groups, depends on data dispensation model, either independent samples T test or Mann-Whitney U test was used. On analysis categorical data, either Chi-Square test or Fisher's Exact test was used. In our study, PSG was conducted on 17 of patient whose PSQI score were significant and 11 of them were diagnosed with OSAS. In addition to this result, it was seen that patients had extended Non-Rem 1 duration, while REM duration diminised. We concluded that patients' REM latency lprolonged and sleep efficiency decreased. Comparison between smoker and non-smoker in terms of PSQI score, high PSQI score was significant. Smokers are more complainant about sleep pattern than non-smoker. In conclusion; further studies to be conducted in accordance with data obtained from our study, positive results of improving quality of sleep studies by taking place in literature, the patients will have restful and effective sleep by physiologically and mentally, and so they will have better life quality.
