A study on present conditions of cattle facilities and environmental effects of existing animal related waste in these livestock of Mersin province

Prof. Atılgan ATILGANIn this study, properties of dairy facilities, present conditions of solid, semisolid and liquid waste of animal, problems of waste storage and waste storagesystems, application proportions of required legal and technical criterias in farmplanning and problems caused by the negative conditions were investigated inMersin province and results were compared to literature.Total 57 facilites were studied and 43,9% of them was for beef cattle, 42%was for dairy cattle, while the rest of 14% was for both beef and dairy cattle. In allthe studied facilities, the maximum capasity was 350 cattle, and the minimumcapacity was 3 cattle. 63.2% of the facilities were built without a project and 48 ofthe total facilities (84,21%) lacked manure store.Key Words: Animal Waste, Solid and Liquid Animal Waste Storage Structures,Farm Waste of Storage, Waste Management.
