The analysis of perceptions of employers regarding the level of employability skills of employees graduating from vocational high school(a case study in Gaziantep)

The aim of the study was to analyze the level of employability skills of employees graduating from vocational high school based on employers?perceptions. Data were gathered from 60 companies which were randomly selected among 480 companies which are active in Gaziantep Organized Indutrial Zone. Mean, percentage, frequncy, Levene's Test for Homogenity of Variances, two parametric tests Independent Sample T-Test and One-Way ANOVA, two non-parametric tests Kruskall Wallis and Mann Whitney-U Test and rotated matrix factorial analysis were used in the statistical analyses. Data collection tool, developed for the study was divided into six subscales as ?core skills, personal qualities, skills of using information and information technologies, thinking skills, interpersonal and management skills and foreign language skills?. The study revealed that employers perception of their workers? level of ?core skills, personal qualities, skills of using information and information technologies, thinking skills, interpersonal and management skills? is ?sufficient? but level of ?foreign language skills? is ?considerably insufficient?. Statistically significant differences were observed between some of the sub-scales and subjects? age, educational background, tenure and type of high school.
