Vocational high schools? principals? managerial behaviors? affect on theachers? organizational loyalty

The vocational high schools? purpose is to train the required skilled human resources for the manufacturing and service sectors. In order to succeed in it its goal, principals and teachers of those schools play the most important roles. Thus, the loyalty level of the teachers to their schools has a crucial importance.The aim of this research is to determine the level of the effect of the school principals? management behaviors? on teachers? loyalties to their schools in Vocational High Schools of Industry, Vocational Schools for Girls and Vocational High Schools of Commerce and Tourism.The research has been conducted within the 2008-2009 educational year with 324 teachers who were working for the above mentioned vocational high schools in Istanbul. A total of 324 questionnaires were collected from the teacher after completion. However, due to some mistakes and empty answers 22 questionnaires withdrawn from the further analysis. Thus the research and accordingly statistical analyses were conducted with the remaining 302 questionnaires.All the data collected with personal information form and the questionnaire which was developed by the researcher analyzed with SPSS for Windows version 15. As a result, it is found that the school principals? managerial behaviors affect teachers? organizational loyalty level. It is also found that, teachers? gender, marital status, teaching subject, age, university education, educational level, and vocational school type, duration time in the school and professional seniority cause differentiation in perception of the school principals? managerial behaviors which in turn leads a different level of organizational loyalty.Key Words: Vocational High Schools, Organizational Loyalty, Organizational Devotion, Managerial Behaviors, Schools Principals.
