Abstract (EN)

The aim of this paper is to find the connections with the perception of mathematical self-efficacy in vocational school students and their academic performance in vocational mathematics. The student group contains 292 male and female students enrolled in the Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Furniture, Fashion Design and Accounting and Finance Departments of the 10th, 11th and 12th Grades of the Vocational High School in the Geyve District of Sakarya Province between 2019- 2020 years. The study used both quantitative and qualitative data. Gender, department of education, grades and academic performance (average achievement level in professional mathematics) information of the students were gathered by using Umay (2001) self-efficacy perception scale in mathematics and Interview forms obtained from vocational teachers and students were used. Quantitative data; Using descriptive analysis, independent sampling T-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Pearson correlation analysis; Qualitative data were analyzed by the surveyor by reading and collecting them on specific topics. As a result of the research; It was determined that the mathematics self-efficacy perception of vocational high school students did not make a significant difference according to the gender and grade level variables. While students' mathematics self-efficacy perceptions showed a significant difference in the sub-dimension of transforming mathematics into life skills according to the department they studied, it was observed that there was no significant difference in the sub-dimensions of awareness of their behavior in mathematics, mathematics self-perception and the whole scale. In addition, it was determined that there was a statistically significant and weak positive relationship between students' perceptions of mathematics self-efficacy and professional mathematics achievement. Keywords: Mathematics training, self-efficacy perception in mathematics, vocational mathematics, academic success.
