Abstract (EN)
Occupation has an overriding effect on not only the personal life of the individual but also the relations with his environment. The job a person does has a significant role on his status within the society. This also reveals the importance of vocational choice.Vocational training centers, are among organizations that help. Work in the industry of hairdressing barber women and men in vocational training centers are among the industry. By the students of this branch of choice because it is not related to an investigation will be carried out this study reveals why.The questionnaire prepared within the concept of related research has been applied by using the method of face-to-face interviews with students of coiffeur and barbering and their parents. Survey has been studiet with describing research method which based on scanning method.182 participants (students and parents) have taken part in the research made in Ankara Erkunt VET Center, Department of Coiffeur and Barbering. The aim of the research is to generally apply the results from the related research to the VET Centers in Ankara in 12 of which Department of Coiffeur and Barbering is available.Student and parent views have separately analyzed with the purpose of enlisting the reasons for choosing the VET Center, Department of Coiffeur and Barbering. The results from these analyses have shown the most important and overriding vocational reasons are; students believe themselves for being successful in their future jobs, they think that the need for coiffeur and barbering will never end or diminish and it is possible to open a coiffeur saloon as long as they collect the necessary papers and documents. As for the parents, they think the overriding reasons for their kids to choose these jobs are; the children are attracted by these jobs since they are social jobs, their children believe themselves for being good at their jobs and think that these jobs have large aesthetic dimensions. As seen here, the vocational reasons for the students to choose these jobs and receive the education and training of these jobs vary across the students and parents.The affective reasons for choosing VET Center, Department of Coiffeur and Barbering education have been separately enlisted according to the student and parent views. With effect from the results of these assessments there are several overriding affective reasons for students to choose these jobs which are; they feel they are skillful at coiffeur or barbering jobs, they love creating models that might please other people and they enjoy the artistic aspect of these jobs. From the parental perspective, the overriding reasons are; their children are happy with pleasing the people, they love creating models that might please other people and the kids enjoy the vocational applications of coiffeur and barbering. As seen here, the affective reasons for the students to choose these jobs and receive the education and training of these jobs vary across the students and parents.With the general assessments, i.e. analyzing the views of both students and parents together, the overriding vocational reasons have been detected as follows; the belief of being successful n the job, the possibility of opening a coiffeur saloon as long as the documants are available and attraction of these jobs as social jobs.
