Evaluating of the teaching staffs' views on the usability of tanbur methods in undergraduate vocational music education

It is obvious that regular, planned and systematic training performed at a certain time will be qualified, and methods and techniques prepared by experts are an important part of this training process It is known that the tanbur methods are numerically low compared to the methods of other instruments. For this reason, it is the important point to determine the methods of tanbur training at the undergraduate level of professional music education and the use of tanbur methods in this training and its suitability to these departments and the adequacy of the methods. In line with this purpose, in this study the interviews were conducted with five teaching staffs working in tanbur training at the institutions of vocational music education selected by criterion sampling and using the semi-structured interview technique. The data obtained were analyzed using content analysis. In this regard, the idea that a method of meshk based on master-apprentice relation or meshk-like method using today's technological facilities should be used in tanbur training due to special techniques such as style and attitude that reflect Turkish music performance Today, it has been concluded that, a more scientific method of meshk, in which technical studies are predominant, will be efficient instead of the traditional method of meshk and the known methods of tanbur are not at the level to be used in professional tanbur training. Besides, the ideas that tanbur methods can only help up to a certain technical level, their contents should be enriched in terms of number of studies and visual materials, the content of other known and accepted instrument methods can be used while preparing the method, and a standard method can be created by preparing a method according to a common school are among the results. Again, it is concluded that the method of meshk is appropriate for the acquisition of style and attitude and it is important to listen to well-known performers and it is more efficient for the students to prepare the video materials in the tanbur methods by using different shooting angles, and the methods can be prepared by considering the level of student readiness.
