Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this research is to inquire the effect of the factors which appeared related to MEGEP, on the Professional and technical training high school students? branch pereferences.The impact of the professional tendency on the chosen branch has been searched.At the same time, the effect of the level of the students? resourcefulness on profession selection has been studied.In the various parts of their lives, people may have to choose and decide one of the alternatives .Deciding the future occupation is one of these obligations.By deciding the profession, the direction of life changes.Giving up this decision is sometimes tiring and a waste of time, sometimes is completely impossible.Thus, it is necessary for students to decide the true job as that is one of the most important decision in one?s life.Rosenbaum describes the learned resourcefulness as an intellectual skill.He assumes that these intellectual skills exist in humans as very strong knowledge , and all of these skills appears by learning experiences suc as being conditioned, taking model, learning with instructions.Learned resourcefulness is described as gained skills which enables individuals to control the thoughts and senses which prevents the behaviours towards the aim.(Akt.Sarıcı 1999). Fleming,Baum and Singer (1983) explains the term ?cope with? as an important phenomenon which shows the resistance of the individual against the stressful events and is installed into the stres couse.(Akt. Demirci 1998)A literature search has been done.In the research , 60-itemed professional tendency inventory developed by (Kepçeoğlu 1990), Rosenbaum?s Learned Resourcefulness Criterion to define the learned resourcefulness level of students, for demographic variables a Personal Information Form have been prepared by the researcher.The sample of this research consists of 66 female,509 male ,in total 575 students.They are studying at professional and technical training high schools in Şişli district in İstanbul.In this research, scientific poll method has been used.For abnormal dispersions,non-parametric methods; for normal ones ,parametric analyzing techniques have been used. Independent group t test , non-parametric Mann Whitney-U test ,unidimensional variance analysis(ANOVA),non-parametricKruskal Wallis-H test, Pearson Multiplication Moment Corelation Analysis have been used.Meaningfulness has been accepted as 05 and analysis has been done by SPSS15 program.It has been observed that all of the findings from the research supported assumptions in the hypothesis.As it was expected in the hypothesis , students? professional tendency is related to their study branch.Moreover, their tendency to choose an occupation is connected with gender, class and family?s socio-economic situation.Learned resourcefulness of the students are related to gender,class,and family?s socio-economic situation.It can be seen from the research results that there is a meaninful difference between students? grades of professional tendency and its lower dimensions, and students? grades of learned resourcefulness.Key Words: Deciding A Profession, Professional Tendency, Rosenbaum Learned Resourcefulness Scale, Choosing A Branch, MEGEP, Professional and Technical Education,Vocational High Schools,Learned Resourcefulness, Stress
