Developing project based teaching programmes in vocational and technical high school education

In this research, developing and applying project based teaching programmes in vocational and technical high school education have been studied. First of all, the education programme has been developed by examining Mechanicel Technologies Field Tenth Grade Basic Production Process Course curriculum modules which have been prepared in the scope of Developing Vocational and Technical Education System Project. After giving all students basic hand processes, Drilling and screw processes and basic modeling processes modules equally, groups have been formed. In the research, preliminary test and final test are applied to 26 students in the tenth grades, and to 22 students at the same level andconditrons in Konya Vocational High School and 30 students in the eleventh grades from Afyonkarahisar Central Anatolian Technical , Technical and Industry Vocational High School in 2006 / 2007 education year and technological information results have been converted into points. The tenth grade students? works have been collected in the project progress file, observed and evaluated, results have been evaluated with teachers and students. The situations encountered during education programmes application have revealed the importance of planning stage. Identifying goals, making work programme, making connections between modules, teaching technological information, applying practicing exercises and cohesion of the works done to each other depend on a good organization. At the end of the Research; According to the project based education programme applied students, that they have lessons more delightful and beneficial, they can make connections between modules, they have developed responsibility feeling, absenteeism has disappeared, the practicing exercises done have been evaluated and they have been happy to introduce visible concrete outputs are observed. The teachers have emphasized that this work could be very beneficial for both students and teachers and developing the works with experts would be useful. Displaying outputs done in the applications of the project based education programme, group members? using and sharing acquired information and skills have been increased the effectiveness of learning. In the application of project based education programmes the intended efficiency is ensured due to adequate material, adequate duration, preparing sufficient set and equipment, determining duration, safety, cleanup, order and arrangement and due to introducing an output at the end of the process
