Özet (EN)

In this study designated as Non-Muslim people in the History of Bursa Cityfrom Constitutional Monarchy to Republican system, it, in political and culturalaspects, studies positions of non-Muslim people constituting a distinctive categoryin demographic construction process in the history of Bursa city from ConstitutionalMonarchy at which the state and society entered into a conversion, to Republicansystem.In the 19th century, social conversion and alteration process emerging in aframe at which inferior and exterior dynamics were dominative had createdoutstanding variations in the social construction of Bursa city, which was integratedwith the world through the silk industry. The non-Muslim society performing aninitiative action for this city in this field of industrial development by orienting theirselves with technologic developments in the sericulture from the early century hasstarted playing an important role in economical life of the city. Their foreign tradeconnections that they acquired by means of foreign capital to which they werenecessarily integrated as well as opportunities provided by the AdministrativeReforms and Improvement Commands caused them to equip with a compradorqualification.Till the early 20th century, the non-Muslim society ranked a weightedposition in the socio-economical construction of the city had trembled with advancesamples of boycott and national economic practises emerged as derivatives ofnationalist approaches ideally acknowledged by the Committee for Union andProgress after the Balkans Wars. Above-mentioned economical policies during theWorld War I has acquired acceleration, meanwhile the non-Muslim society in Bursawas to an outstanding extend liquidated within socio-economical construction of thecity on account of mobilisation and settlement practises. In the TurkishIndependence War consisting of 1919 to 1922, participating into separatist actions ofthe Greek and Armenian societies caused them at the end to abandon Bursa city.
