Abstract (EN)
Cardiovascular events are the most common cause of death all over the world. Metabolic syndrome criteria including hyperlipidemia, hypertension and glucose intolerance have been proved to induce coronary artery disease. In present study we aimed to evaluate visceral and subcutaneous fatty tissue and their association with hepatosteatosis on CT scans in order to determine a cut-off criteria for metabolic syndrome. We evaluated 108 patients with a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome in which visceral fatty tissue area is revealed to be the most predictive value for metabolic syndrome. Additionally, for the first time in the literature, we measured visceral fatty tissue density, which had positive correlation with metabolic syndrome. In our study visceral fatty tissue area above 156,47 cm² is the most powerful positive predictive value with at sensitivity and spesificity of 74,1% and 58.6%, respectively. The second powerful positive predictive value is visceral fatty tissue density with the sensitivity and spesificity number of 75% and 57,6% respectively.
