Abstract (EN)
The phenomenon of the tooth chipping during the power hack sawing of steel with high speedsteel saw blades is often reported as the main wear controlling mechanism. To investigite this, sawing tests were carried out in a power hack sawing machine using high speed steel sawsand steel work material. The occurance of chipping, their types and their position on the sawblade were studied using ligth optic microscopy. The influence of saw feed, duration (numberof strokes) and saw entry and exit upon chipping was investigated. After sawing tests and microscopy investigation two types of chippings were seen (type I andtype II). The study indicated that the extent of chipping was affected by the saw feed, durationand saw entry and exit. Keywords: Chipping, power hacksawing, high speed steel.JURY:1.
