Abstract (EN)

Keywords: Metal Matrix Composites, Automobile Brake System, Brake Pad, Wear, Friction, Thermal Conductivity, Thermal Expansion It is an important task to reduce to weight and increase the strength/density (specific strength) in order to reduce the costs of technological applications and fuel. This ratio is also one of the most important parameter in elastic modulus, corrosion, oxidation, thermal stability, creep and fatigue of engineering materials. The main purpose of the MMC production is to increase the strength and elastic modulus of the matrix alloy. However, it is also possible to produce materials having different elastic modulus, strength and thermal expansion coefficient values. One of the most important parameter is used in the wear applications because of their high wearing resistance. The aim of this study is to produce MMC brake discs and pads having high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, high wear resistance and friction coefficients, which are suitable with the standards as alternative materials for the traditional brake discs and pads.
