In breast cancer patients with non metastatic body fat distribution; evaluation of the relationship between adiponectin, leptin and irisin levels

Abstract (EN)
Objective- hypotesis: Breast cancer and obesity have become a public public health problem. In order to better understand the nature of breast cancer tumor cells and strengthen our hand while treating patients with this disease, we wanted to evaluate the relationship between body fat distribution and adiponectin, leptin and irisin levels in breast cancer patients to determine physiopathology and risk factors well and to contribute to the creation of new options in their treatment and follow-up. Methods: We included 60 non-stage 4 breast cancer patients who applied to the medical oncology outpatient clinic of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Practice and Research Hospital between 2019 and 2020, 60 follow-up patients who were cured in terms of breast cancer, 60 volunteers who followed up in the medical oncology outpatient clinic and no chronic disease was found. Body weights, body fat distributions and abdominal fat amount were measured with Tanita BC-418 MA device under the supervision of a 180-person working group under the supervision of expert dieticians. Patients 'heights were measured and BMI was calculated and the analysis papers on patients' results were filed. Adiponectin, leptin and irisin levels were measured from plasma. SPSS-18 program was used for statistical evaluation. p value <0.05 was considered significant. Results: Among the patients included in the study, the mean age of the breast cancer group was 55.18, the breast cancer cure group was 53.90, and the control group was 49.36. The average BMI of the breast cancer group was 29.52 kg/m2, the average BMI of the breast cancer cure group was 31.78 kg/m2 and the average BMI of the control group was 32.47 kg/m2. Adiponectin levels averaged 4.03 mg / L in the breast cancer patient group, 4.82 mg / L in the breast cancer cure group, and 4.42 mg / L in the control group (p = 0.363). Leptin results were 13.08 ng / ml in the breast group, 22.23 ng / ml in the breast cancer cure group and 17.73 ng / ml in the control group (p = <0.001). The levels of iris resulted in 11.58 ng / ml in the breast cancer group, 17.02 ng / ml in the breast cancer cure group and 15.86 ng / ml in the control group (p = 0.002). Conclusion: Serum irisin levels were found to be lower in breast cancer patients than in breast cancer cure groups, and the study was significant. It should be studied in larger patient groups for the usability and therapeutic effects of iris in the follow-up of breast cancer patients.
