Abstract (EN)

In this study, a quantitative research model was used to examine the effect of reading texts in a foreign language on language learning. According to this model, Test and Control Groups were formed among the adult Turkish-speaking German learners, who were still receiving foreign language lessons in the same classroom. While the control group continued to receive regular instruction, the experimental group received four-month reading instruction in a foreign language (German) in addition to regular instruction. This study includes all Turkophone adults whose L1 is Turkish and who want to learn German as L2. However, since it was not possible to measure such a general population, the scope of the study was limited to the learners of the private language school Bilgi Başarı Cevap in Elazig Province. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the reading activity improved the learners' reading, listening, writing and speaking skills. In addition, it was found that this activity contributed to learners' reading comprehension and improved other language skills.
