Metropolis geometric pottery

In this thesis, Geometric vases from Bademgediği Hill and selected vases which dated Protogeometric and Geometric period from Acropolis of Metropolis was studied.Geometrik levels of East Greek cities are under the Archaic, Classic, Hellenidtic and Roman levels. Therefore, a small amount of Geometric vases were found from excavations in Western Anatolian cities. Because of this, materials of this thesis are very important.Geometric vases from Acropolis of Metropolis was found a few small trenches. But 36 vases pieces, in this study, give us very important chronological knowledge about Metropolis. Results of this study show us that, settlements of Metropolis are continue from second millenium to Arkaic period as uninterrupted.In the excavations of Bademgediği Hill six settelement was determined. First settlement belong to Geometric period. Because of this feature, Bademgediği Hill is single, unique, city among to Ancient Western Anatolian cities. In the excavations about 780 vase pices were found. At the end of the researches of these vases we understood that, when Gaeometric settlement started and finished. We found new vase form and new decoration style belong to Geometric period. We found a new group of bird skyphoi which was very populer vase form in the East Greek world. Dating of some vase groups have many problems. But results of this study, we dated many problematic vase groups in Geometric period.
