Özet (EN)
Metropolis started to develop as a planned city from the 3rd century BC, grew with the construction activities in the city during the Roman Period, especially in the 1-2th century AD, and then continued its existence until the 12th century Laskarisler Period. For more than 30 years, excavations and research activities have been ongoing in the city, and it is possible to see these traces in the Theater, Parliament Building, Upper and Lower Roman Baths, Peristyle House, Roman Cistern, Balneum and Araplıtepe Byzantine Church. During this period from the 3rd century BC, when Metropolis was planned on a hill overlooking the Torbalı Plain, to the 12th century AD, water use and engineering practices were undoubtedly developed and applied in the city. In this study, the excavations and finds have been used to explain the source, transportation, storage and distribution of water, the evacuation of wastes generated as a result of water use, and infrastructure activities related to the use of water in the city. In addition, within the scope of the study, sources on water use and engineering in Metropolis and other cities were examined and evaluated, and the latest data and information obtained as a result of the excavations were evaluated.
