Use of four basic language skills in Mevlana Celaleddin-I Rumi's Fihi Ma Fih

The basic skills of the mother tongue such as reading, writing, speaking and listening are given in formal education institutions especially in Turkish Language courses. Listening and reading from comprehension skills and writing and speaking from narration skills have been taken place not only in educational institutions, but also in old literary texts, and shed light on the readers even after centuries. In this study, the expressions of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi, who lived in XIII. Century, related to the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in his Fih i Ma Fih were identified. It has been revealed in what extent these identified skills are included in the standards of the Turkish language (grades 5, 6, 7, 8) curriculum (2018). In the study, document analysis method was used, all 76 chapters in the work were analyzed, and as a result of this analysis, a total of 2513 items were detected. 2135 of those items related to speaking skills, 177 related to listening skills, 106 related to writing skills, and 95 related to reading skills, and the sections not related to this study were not evaluated. Mostly the expressions related to speaking skills were found in this piece. In speaking skills, mutual conversation, verses spoken for a long time, asking questions, answering a question, and good speech were emphasized. Listening has been in the sense of hearing, not hearing, being all ears, thinking of the things they listen, and feeling of the things they listen. Writing skills were mostly emphasized by stating written text, word types in the field of language, holy book, and writing tools. Reading skills were stated in the form of reading from the written text, recitation, reading verses, understanding the text you have read. When the sentences in the piece were examined, it was seen that the basic language skills coincide with the standards in the Turkish Language Curriculum (2018). Therefore, when such pieces are included in educational programs, it has been concluded that they will be beneficial for the students.
