Abstract (EN)
In the studies conducted on seasonal/ temporary agricultural workers, it is estimated that seasonal agricultural workers constitute 450 million of the 1.1 billion agricultural workforces in the world. In Turkey, according to official figures, there are 300.000 agricultural workers and this number reaches up to one million with the worker families in the unrecorded economy.In Turkey, agricultural workers, especially those who are from the eastern and southeastern part of Turkey, migrate to the country's 48 provinces to work in the agricultural fields. Every year in the harvest period, the news on the death of agricultural workers takes place in the media. This study aimed to answer the question of how seasonal agricultural workers are presented in Turkish print media. In this context, in the period between 2000 and 2016, the news articles on seasonal agricultural workers in daily newspapers with high circulation were analyzed using content analysis method. According to the findings of the study, the news appeared on the third page and in the internal pages, the medium level was important, the news origin was not clear, the news predominantly victim/victim and pathetic (dominance) style dominated by the news, the news content of the news more traffic news it was determined that these were followed by the dimentions of health, education, work and social exclusion, the photographs were generally not used in the texts, and in the news that the photographs were used, the areas where the agricultural workers lived, agricultural workers were used.
