Abstract (EN)
The mey instrument, one of the woodwind instruments of Turkish folk music, appears in many parts of the world due to its form and structure. In Azerbaijan: Balaban, İn Dagestan: Yassı Balaban, in Japan: Hickiriki, in Kyrgyzstan: Kamış Sırnay, in Armenia: Duduk is the name of the same instrument family and these instruments are shaped according to the musical understanding and structure of the nations in their geography. When we look at the historical process of the folk instrument mey instrument in our country, it has been widely performed in the Eastern Anatolia region, the possibility of transposing has been limited due to its sound range of about one octave, so a single mey instrument and a single chord have been used and shaped with the musical structure in its region. The Mey instrument, a solo instrument during its traditional performance; with it entry into TRT, conservatories and instrument ensembles, it also gained the feature of accompaniment instrument and however, the resulting entonation and tuning problems brought with them problems, and therefore, negativity occurred in terms of sound unity with other instruments. At the same time, these negativity has made mey performance difficult and has caused some setbacks in the training of the instrument. Although a number of scientific studies about woodwind instruments have been done in the instrument making departments of universities, these have not gone beyond theory and have not been applied in practice. Deficiencies in this issue have been one of the most important factors that have led us to this research. This research provides solutions to the intonation problems existing in mey instrument; It is considered important for mey instrument to provide sound unity with other instrument ensembles, to be more comfortable with the instrument's training and playing, and to contribute to the studies to be carried out in order to ensure standards in instrument production, and to facilitate the training and playing of instruments. In this study, the measurements of the mey instrument were reconstructed based on the values of the table "Koma Frequencies" and the standard blades of the "air steel" material were studied for the construction of the mey instrument. With the literature review, information about the research subject has been revealed and additional information has been provided to the literature with the interview form prepared by the researcher.
