Abstract (EN)
The wide use of religious figures, script and symbolic meaning within the scope of Islamic tradition on tomb Stones have distinct value as perseverance of records that contribute to the emotions, thoughts, beliefs, tradition and customs of Turkish people. Therefore, in order to obtain knowledge of such significant information that has document like qualities covering a wide range on tomb stones in an organized manner, a bibliographic study of literature on or related to the topic of tomb stones in traditional Turkish hand crafts has been conducted and found necessary to reach and produce clearer results.In this study a conceptual frame work explaining the tomb Stones features based on historical periods has been applied.The data in the findings have been mainly derived from library sources such as articles of various magazines, symposium announcements, communication links, books and encyclopedias.Any references that have no author in the bibliographic information have been listed alphabetically according to their title.To conclude, the systematic collection and archiving of tomb stones will be useful to reveal and preserve cultural identity as well as provide more resources for such research.
