Özet (EN)

In recent conditions where intercultural communication has gradually become a necessity, literary texts as a means of communication and the translation of these texts have been extremely important. In our day, translation which becomes a necessity, as it was in the past, is in a constant development.This study aims to address comparative analysis of the source and target language texts of children?s novel ?Momo? written by Michael Ende who is one of the German Children?s Literature Writer, and to examine the translation of literary text and the translation issues encountered in the course of translation, and to determine the attitudes and preferences adopted by the translator during the translation.In the introduction part of the study, a general overview to translation studies, translation types, literary translation, translation issues in literary translation, translation studies approaches, equivalence and understanding of translation criticism in the light of contemporary translation theories were addressed in general. In the second part of the study, general information about ?Momo?written by Michael Ende who is one of the German Children?s Literature Writer was presented. In the third part of the study, it has been critically approached to the translation process by giving examples from the novel translated into Turkish from German by Ms Leman Çalışkan.The final part of the study is a conclusion and the assessment of the text which analysed.
