Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out with the aim of defining in detail the ampelographic characteristics of local grape cultivars grown in Midyat district of Mardin province between 2019-2020 according to international norms. In the study; the Prepared by IBPGR, OIV and UPOV in 1983, the publication called "Grape Descriptors" was used and the other one was benefited from a publication called "Minimal Descriptive List for Grape Varieties" in 1989. 28 grape cultivars identified in the neighborhoods of Midyat district of Mardin province were evaluated in terms of 77 characters. In addition, the climatic characteristics of the district and the viticulture technique applied were mentioned. In the cultivars subject to research; The shoot tip is open, the sequence of tendrils is interrupted, and the absence of prominences of seed edge showed that these cultivars belong to the Vitis vinifera L. species. The shoot position in all cultivars was semi-vertical; there was no peculiarity of petiole sinüs and prostrate hairs on petiol; Fruit flesh was found to be colorless, berry was seeded and it was in striated class on the cane surface. While other features related to shoots and canes, leaves, bunches, berries and seeds also differ between cultivars, it has been observed that they may differ in the same cultivar, even in the same vine. Although the grape varieties grown in the region are generally used for table, they are also used in the production of local products such as raisins, molasses, churchkhela and fruit pulp.
