Evaluation of life quality of migraine patients and patients whith tension type headache

Migraine and tension type headache are the most common type of primary headaches. This present study is aimed to evaluate the quality of lives of the patients with migraine and tension type headhache. In this study patients diagnosed with migraine and tension type headache according to IHS 2004 criteria are evaluated. 184 people are inculeded in this study. 99 of these people are patients with TTH, 55 of these people are patients diagnosed with migraine and 30 of these are control group. Sociodemographic questions, Whoqol Bref TR, SMMT ve edingburg lateralizasyon questionnaire are applied to these 184 people.For statistical comparison of the results, chi-squara test Independent Sample T- test, Manny Whitney U test, One Way ANOVA (to compare the differences between the groups) are used. To test the significance of the groups turkey HSD test is used. <0.05 P valance is accepted significant. The point average of women?s life quality is lower than the point average of men?s life quality (p<0,05). The life quality of the patient group with migraine is lower according to significance (p<0,05). The life quality of patient group with tension type headache is lower than the life quailty of control group (p<0,05) but it isstatistically insignificant . Our results indicate that migraine influces quality of life negatively and impares it.Key Words : Migraine, Tension Type Headache, Quality of Life
