Abstract (EN)

In recent years, rapidly growing technology and increased energy needs have caused the depletion of natural energy resources all over the world. Due to depletion of natural resources, scientific researches are focused on alternative energy. One of these alternative energy sources is Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC). In this study, two different leachate samples used in Microbial Fuel Cells. An electricity generation capacity of the system and community structure were investigated. Species profile in MFC?s was studied by applying molecular techniques. Accumulation on membrane surface used in MFC system was analized by the determination of FTIR and SEM results. The reactor was built with young leachate. Studies were conducted in different organic loading rate (OLR) and hydraulic retention time (HRT) while working conditions of reactor was changed. Maximum current density and maximum power density were found as 11 A\m2 and 900 mv\m2. The reactor then was built with old leachate. Studied were conducted in different organic loading rate (OLR) and hydraulic retention time (HRT). Maximum current density was determined as 6 A/m2 in optimum conditions. İn the molecular analyze result to determine old landfill leachate species profile in MFC?s. Uncultured Geobacter sp. Uncultured Clostridium sp ve Uncultured Clostridiales bacterium clone Uncultured Pseudomonas ve Uncultured Geobacter observed in all of the hydraulic retention times and biofilm. To determine the profile of the young landfill leachate as a result of the molecular analysis, Deltaproteobakter, Gamaproteobakter were determined to be species belonging to the family. Besides, at a percentage of bacteria reactor Betaproteobacteria group and epsilon proteobacteria groups, respectively. FTIR analysis was carried out to observe the membrane surface accumulations. SEM analysis of membrane and other membranes conditional concluded that very large differences between the surfaces.
