Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted in the breeding fields of Agromar Marmara Tarım Ürünleri A.Ş during 2016-2017 years in order to determine parents and hybrid combinations with high performance by performing statistical and genetic analyzes on yield and quality characteristics of mildew resistant oilseed sunflower parental lines and hybrid combinations. Five advanced generation cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) lines and four restorer lines developed by Agromar A.Ş were used as genetic materials in the study. In the first year of the research, 20 hybrid combinations were obtained by crossing according to Line x Tester design between five cytoplasmic male sterile female lines and four restorer male lines with resistant to mildew. In the second year, 20 hybrid combinations and 9 parent lines were examined in Randomized Blocks Design with 3 replications and some statistical and genetic analyzes were performed according to Line x Tester analysis method. According to the results of the research, it was determined that all the parents and hybrids used were resistant to mildew. In terms of grain yield and oil yield, CMS2, CMS3 and Restorer4 parental lines had positive significant GUY effect, while CMS5 and Restorer 1 parental lines showed negative and significant GUY effects. Specific combining ability (SCA) effects were found to be significant in 7 hybrid combinations in terms of seed yield and 9 hybrid combinations in terms of oil yield. On the other hand, CMS2 x Restorer 4, CMS2 x Restorer2 and CMS3 x Restorer4 hybrids were found to be superior in terms of both yield and quality characteristics and were identified as promising cultivar candidates. Although CMS1 x Restorer2, CMS3 x Restorer2 and CMS3 x Restorer1 hybrids were superior in terms of oil content, they did not reach the desired level in terms of seed yield. The hybrids, CMS3 x Restorer3, CMS4 x Restorer4 and CMS1 x Restorer1 were found to be superior in terms of seed yield but did not yield the desired results in terms of oil content.
