ABSTRACTBİNGÖL, Arif: NATIONAL STATE AND KÜRTS, Master of Science (Ms) Thesis, Ankara, 2010.The objective of the thesis which has the title ?National State and Kürts? is to determine the place of Kürts in the National State and by staying in the requirement of Kürts to adopt and integrate with the National State, in the matters of not adopting themselves to the nation, the creation and facing of the problem of clashing were examined and made subject of assessments, by taking into consideration, the internal and external influencing factors. With the notion National State, The State of the Republic of Turkey is intended to be indicated and with he notion of Kürts we intend to indicate the Kürts who are contained in the borders determined with national oath. This study is limited to the Atatürk Period (1919-1938). While the relationship of Kürts with National State were examined, it became necessity, to understand the process of establishment of the National State and the Turkish Revolution; making the separation between the Kürt advocates and the Kürts and attention was paid to them, within the framework of East Problem, as required, by not overlooking the Kürt policies of imperialists. Within such a framework of understanding, the problem is straight forwardly stated. In conclusion, during the Atatürk period, the condition termed by some persons as the Kürt problem faced within the National State and the condition termed by some persons as Kurdish Problem were in fact a problem of the Turkish citizens, having Kürt roots, but not integrating with the National State and not reaching at a level of consciousness, that they can understand being, a fundamental part of this Nation.Key words: National State Kürts Atatürk Uprisings
