Abstract (EN)
This research aims to identify case studies in the 5th, 6th, 7th junior high class text books published by ministry of education, analyze how they are used number of case studies, learning are as and inclusion in book units,subjects covered by case studies and their learning outcomes, quoting from some case studies present in textbooks, and finally, what are the sources of these case studies in the textbooks, and identify then, In the acquisition of research materials, document analysis method, and in the data analysis stage descriptive and content analysis has been used. According to the obtained results. • the 5th year Social knowledge textbook has more case studies than 6th and 7th year Social knowledge textbooks. The textbook with the minimum number of used case studies is the 7th year textbook. • When evaluated with respect to learning are and on unit basis, even though 5th, 6th and 7th year textbooks don't have simülar distribution of case studies use, all of them have employed case studies. • When the distribution of types of case studies in textbooks, textual case studies have been used more than visual case studies. • When the subjects and learning outcomes presented in textbooks sufficient case studies have been included in all learning areas and units; the 6th year textbook with culture and heritance learning area exception all learning areas have been covered to support these outcomes realization. • Random case studies have been selected from Social knowledge textbooks, they have been analyzed based on Teaching Program special goals, outcomes values and competencies and Board of Education Discipline (Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu Başkanlığı) readability in textbooks report containing some criteria. As a result, while case studies meet the criteria, some case studies don't meet. • Finally, the sources of case studies in textbooks have been determined since case studies are frequently chosen from recent active subjects, newspaper articles, Social network news which can support active subjects, have been used.
