"Risâletü'r-Reml" registered in the National Library with 06 Hk 2725/2 (Transcription-analysis-intralingual translation-facsimile)

Since the beginning of human existence, people have sought to understand what the future holds and shape their lives accordingly. This desire has led to the creation and development of various techniques over time. Geomancy, a method involving drawing certain lines on sand, is one of these techniques. From ancient times, geomancy has found widespread application. As a result of its popularity, there arose a need for works that explain how to practice geomancy, leading to the creation of numerous such texts. The subject of this study is a geomancy manuscript registered under number 06 Hk 2725/2 at the National Library Ankara Adnan Ötüken Public Library. According to information on page 80, the author of the work is Sheikh İsmâîl's son, Dâvûd. Based on the information from page 143, the manuscript was copied in cemaziyelahir (december/january), 1310 (1892/1893). The manuscript consists of a total of 66 pages. In this study, a transcripted version of the manuscript, written in Arabic script, was prepared, and an intralingual translation was provided to ensure the text's meaning could be easily understood. The manuscript provides information on various aspects of the geomancy method, including the names of geomancy figures, the specific names assigned to these figures, their favourable/unfavourable conditions and degrees, the houses of geomancy and their special names, the relationship between geomancy and classical astronomy, as well as how to determine concepts such as tâlib, matlûb, nefs-i reml, müntehî, müntehîye, metîn, şerh, tefsîr, te'vîl, and ibtidât figures. In the light of this information, it has been concluded that the manuscript was written to teach geomancy to someone entirely unfamiliar with it and that, during the period it was written, geomancy was regarded as a science.
