Abstract (EN)
While examples of architectural design show themselves in different forms of relationship with biomimicry, they share the purpose of deriving an architectural meaning from the nature of common denominator. Thanks to the bioengineering and biotechnological researches that developed in the 21st century, nature's relations with architecture and other engineering fields began to change. In this context, bio-cooperation is one of the nature-inspired design approaches. Bio-collaborative design approach, which is an alternative approach to many architectural design problems such as depletion of all resources, unsustainable nature, traditionalization of all building materials and construction methods, is emerging as a new solution. The main objective of this study is to investigate the potential of use of bacterial biocalcification as an alternative to cement, concrete and derivative structures in the field of architecture and design; to discuss the use of this technique as a tool in architectural design, its potentials and applicability. In this respect, as a result of the literature research which provides the theoretical framework of the study, nature-inspired design experiments have been categorized by examining. It is important to place the thesis in a few examples in the literature in which living organisms are integrated into the process and to draw attention to interdisciplinary studies, as well as to contribute to the design discipline for the use of living organisms in architecture and design in the future.
