Abstract (EN)
This term, which is used to express a psychological capacity that allows understanding and caring about the mental and physical state in which others are located, is considered important in today's social life in terms of ensuring an environment of peace and tolerance. Looking at the origin of the idea of empathy, it seems that it is used to express a situation that is different from its meaning, which is widely known today. The first version of the concept of empathy, which aesthe Jun thinkers put forward with the term "einfühlung", was used to express the aesthetic pleasure that a person feels towards beings in the outside world. This primitive version of the concept, which has undergone a narrowing of meaning over the years and has become widely known today, is being brought to the surface again thanks to the findings obtained in today's neuroscience studies. In the introduction section, where the purpose, scope and method of the study are explained, the historical process of both architecture and empathy concepts are mentioned. Following the introduction, the intellectual foundations of the study are discussed in the context of the historical origin of the concept of empathy and the findings of modern neuroscience studies. In this regard, first of all, the opinions of actors who contributed to the development of the concept are considered. In doing so, special attention is paid to the opinions of researchers who have made architecture the object of their study. In the following sections, the findings of modern neuroscience studies that support these views are presented. In the third part of the dissertation work, the criteria obtained by Deciphering the information presented in the theoretical research section are categorically combined. In this way, a model is created to be used in the study of empathy towards architectural structure and space.
