Abstract (EN)
Architecture is based on various disciplines such as fine arts, social sciences, physical sciences and mathematics. In addition to meeting physical, psychological and social needs, architectural products can express tangible or intangible meanings for people with whom they interact, and convey messages of various qualities and levels. The form stands out as an important tool with its definition and qualities in this semantic magnitude of architecture. Geometry, a specialized discipline of mathematics, one of the areas on which architecture is based, apperas as the key concept in the context of the definition, constructability and meaning of the architectural form throughout history. The type, dimensions and the proportions among constituent elements of the geometry create massive and various psychological effects on space and constitute an evaluation criteria in terms of architectural aesthetics. The geometry, which also has an important influence on the perception and interpretation of the architectural form, has undertaken functions such as symbolizing values and conveying messages in various time periods and cultures. Analyzing the geometry in line with this information and revealing the effects of geometry on architecture is one of the main objectives of this study. Architectural examples, on which the analysis method will be applied, were selected from museum structures that are rich in form diversity and have high symbolic value. In this context, contemporary museum buildings were analyzed through a chart created with phenomenological analysis in the thesis study. Thus, form and perceptive expression relationship in architecture, were discussed through selected examples, and it was possible to talk about structural analysis and the translation of the meaning behind the structures.
