Collaboration in architecture-computer interaction

Collaboration is a fact that has gone on in certain way from the existence of human being. We meet with colllaboration at every moment of our lives. We also meet collaboration in relations of different disciplines and architectural discipline is one of the most important of that. When architects design a building, they don?t behave themselves only; they take ideas and information from other discipline?s professions; such as civil engineer, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, geological engineer, acoustical and material professions,...Communication an collaboraiton with these disciplines, new products; designs develop in the best way. As communication between people how develop and in this way human being passed another new age, in architectural discipline with developing communication tools; technology a lot of possibilities appeared. During this process in collective document sharing, discussions, information sharing, computers start taking the leading role with technological unlimited developments like different softwares, virtual environments, as communication between people; coordination between different disciplines reach unlimited possibilities. In this study, first of all collaboraiton is discussed with all of its features. What is collaboration, as a concept how it differs from other similar terms, advantages and disadvantages, key elements, models of collaboration examined in a large view. After examining collaboration in a general way, subtitles; the emphasizing terms of this study: Collaboration in architectural discipline, in architectural education, in architectural offices and relations with other disciplines discussed with current examples in a comparative way. Firstly, in general architecture and collaboration discussed then collaboration in architectural education; first step in architecture takes place. The importance of collaborative work examined with domestic and abroad examples. After architectural education the other stage architectural offices analyzed from the position they exist in terms of collaboration. Current systems assessed in the direction of collaborative activities and at last the relations between disciplines that collaboration most on stage examined and comparative works put forward. While discussing and examining collaborative activities in architectural discipline, always interaction with architecture and computer is in appearance, the computer?s role in collaborative architectural activities are made perrceptible with current examples. In the final chapter, all of these concepts come to comparative results and assessments and about the position of collaboraiton- architecture- computer technology in the future foresights take a part.
