Evaluation of shear bond strenght after remineralization of enamel subsurface lesion by CPP-ACP: In vitro study

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is the evaluation of shear bond strenght bracket after remineralization of enamel subsurface lesion by CPP-ACP in invitro. In addition, modifications on enamel surface after remineralization, demineralization and prophylaxis processes and after exposing the remineralized surface to acid attacks were observed by SEM. Forty (40) molar teeth and a hundred twenty (120) premolar were used throughout this experiment. Enamel blocks which were prepared by cutting the vestibul surfaces of molar teeth were used for SEM examination. % 1 (w/v) Recaldent? (CPP-ACP: Casein Phosphopeptide- Amorphous Calcium Phosphate) was prepared as remineralizing solution and 0.1 mol/L lactic-asit buffer solution was prepared as demineralizing solution. The specimens were stored in demineralizing solution at 37°C for 4 days, in remineralizing solution at 37°C for 10 days. Specimens which were in prophylaxis group were exposed first to remineralizing solution and then to demineralizing solution each for 10 minutes, two times a day, for 30 days. In the phase of shear bond strenght evaluation, brackets were bonded on enamel surface after the processes of remineralization, demineralization and prophylaxis and tested in shear mode.It was observed that demineralization group had the least bond strength values whereas the group in which no processes were applied on enamel surface had the highest values. Although there were significant statistical differences in values obtained from demineralization group as compared to those of prophylaxis group and control group. There were not significant differences between other groups. It can be seen that CPP-ACP was well qualified with the ability of remineralization after analysing the SEM displays. Moreover, resistance of remineralized surfeces to asit attacks is greater than that of control group.
