Abstract (EN)

?Hophopname? , composed by Memmed Memmedov in 1979, is our main source. This work was printed in cyrillic alphabet in ?Yazıcı Neşriyatı?, Baku.The mentioned work has been drawning a huge attention since it was first published in 1912 in Azerbaijan and it was published many times during the century. It draws attention because of the plurality of proverbs, idioms, prays, and curses that coming from the elements of public language.This work consists of four parts, called ?Idioms?, ?Proverbs?, ?Prays and Curses?, and ?Indexes?. In the introduction part of the work , at first, it is given informations about the life and literary personality of Mirze Elekber Sabir and ?Hophopname?, and then, about idioms, proverbs, prays and curses.The first part of the work is composed of idioms. The idioms are ranged up as subtitles according to their structures.In addition, in each subtitle, it is seperated into two as idioms that are the same as turkish and idioms that are the same as turkish in terms of their meanings.In the second part, there are proverbs. These proverbs are also ranged up as subtitles according to their structures. Morever, they are divided into two as proverbs that are the same as turkish and proverbs that are the same as turkish in terms of their meanings in each of the subtitles.Third part of the work involves prays and curses. As in the other parts, in this part, also, they are seperated into two subtitles as prays and curses that are the same as turkish and prays and curses that are the same as turkish in terms of their meanings.In the last part, there are indexes of idioms, proverbs, prays and curses. Each idiom, proverb, pray and curse is given as headword and the numbers of the pages that are meant in the work is also stated.Key Words: Hophopname, idioms, proverbs, prays, curses.
