A design approach through furniture and installation interaction

There is a mutual interaction between design and art disciplines. This interaction also plays an important role in furniture design. From past to present, there are many studies where furniture has been transformed into an art object, or an art object has been treated as furniture, and sometimes these boundaries have been mixed. As a result of blurring the boundaries between design and art, interdisciplinary cross-uses of tools and methods used in both fields have revealed different and creative approaches. This study is about examining different approaches that arise with furniture design and art interaction, and revealing new and original ideas in the design process. In order to reach the necessary data, the work is handled within the framework of the installation art, which has a direct interaction with the space and user experience. The aim of the study is to examine the interaction between furniture design and installation art and to determine the place and effect of certain elements specific to the artistic process in the design process. Within the scope of the thesis, the interdisciplinary interaction between furniture design and installation art is handled and analyzed within the framework of determined examples. As an analysis method, the furniture-installation interaction diagram created within the framework of the titles obtained in the literature review was used. The thesis study was concluded by sampling the data obtained through literature and analysis studies within the framework of a design approach. The result of the study reveals the innovative and creative expansions in the furniture design process that will be created from an artistic perspective.
