Waste material usage in furniture and interor design

When the depletion of the world sources is considered, consumers need to change their lifestyle and designers need to be encouraged according to this change. Making a sensible tendency about reusing and recycling of waste materials have gained importance as a part of sustainable life. Collection of recyclable waste marials by their usage value and recycling them with different methods is being inevitable. Within the scope of this thesis, there are examples of environmental friendly and socially beneficial design studies from Turkey and the world. In this context, sustainability can be defined as "not compromising future generations fulfilling their own needs while fulfilling today's needs" Waste materials needs to be sorted for developing a sustainable syslem. With incorporation of these wastes in to the system again, necessity rate of new materials will be minimize and consequently environmental problems willbe reduced. In case of not sorting wastes and throw them away, recyclable material is polluted and its capability and yield of recycling is reduced. Aim of this study is, examination of reuse and recycle of waste materials within especially indoor and furniture desings, evaluation of their creativ solutions and investigation of design education's effect on this issue.
