The improving of export potential in furniture sector: Instance of İnegöl

Abstract (EN)

People give importanca to their comfort to improve their life standards in today's world which regularly changes and develops. One of he key factors of life standard is furniture. Because of that furniture occupies a very significant place in human life. As a result of this ımportance, furniture sector has vital share in the world economy. Turkey's economy carriesout important works on getting a big share thorough furniture sector in the world economy. Turkey's furniture sector has intensified in some areas of Turkey till recent years, but the sector has made a move and got into world markets during the recent years and thus Turkey has become a remarkable figure in the world markets. The most marked one of the developed disrricts is Bursa- İnegöl indistrial zone in Turkey. Furniture sector of İnegöl makes an effort to set İnegöl's furniture as a world mark and to show its local marketing and manufacturing experiences to the world markets. However, in spite of having a great export potential, İnegöl has not realised this aim sufficiently until now. As a beginning, we have studied the importance of furniture sector, especially İnegöl furniture sector, for Turkey and world economy. Then the results of the public survey, which was made on the subject of improving of İnegöl furniture, were analy sed through Microsoft Excell and SPSS programs. In consequence of our analyses, we have detected the lack of overrseas markets' knowledge and qualified personal as the main shortcomings of the sector. Morever, we have made out that many firms carry out their exports according to traditional methods. In accordance with our detections, we have made some suggestions to solve İnegöl furniture sector's export problems.
