Evaluation of furniture design competitions from stakeholder opinions

All creatures in nature act with the impulse of competition in all historical processes from the past to the present. When this situation is evaluated through the human factor, the situations that create competitive advantage first emerge with the effort to find the beautiful one. As a result of this effort, the state of being in competition has started to show itself in many different areas. The industrial revolution, with the shaping of human needs over time, has had a great impact on the formation of the competition mechanism. Another factor contributing to the functioning of this mechanism is design competitions. Considering the design competitions in terms of furniture concept, the mentality of innovation in the formation of design perception in the furniture sector is the biggest power determinant in today's world. For the sustainability of competitiveness in the furniture sector, the innovation ability and the ability to be developed in these skills are very important in terms of design competitions. In this study; It was aimed to examine the ethics of furniture design competitions in the development of the furniture industry and two competitions that were thought to create a competitive advantage were selected. Voice interviews were made with the institution, jury members and competitors, which constitute the components of the OAİB Design For Export- Ulusal Mobilya Tasarım Yarışması and MOSDER Ulusal Ev Mobilyaları Tasarım Yarışması, and the interview recordings were coded in the Nvivo program. The content of the themes created as a result of the coding, the sectoral contribution of the competitions, the contribution to the design, the contribution to education and their evaluation in terms of ethics were emphasized within the extent of the research. As a result, the problem encountered in the competitions were determined and solution suggestions were presented.
